Considering the popularity of the term "network effects" as an answer to all questions in Strategical Analysis of IT, here's a law dedicated to the enlightening concept:
"The value of the concept of network effects increases with the number of MBA students who buy in to the concept".
This, my friends, is the reason the dear professor repeats the term 25.3 (calculated using mulitple regresson after accounting for multi-collinearity and micro numerosity) times in every class, on average.
Happy networking and effecting!

I'm now an MBA/8...
Ello ppl!!!
I am officially an eighth of an MBA now... i am accordingly articulate, precise, tactful, busy, correct, and fashionably incorrect... Oh its just an eighth done... have a long way to go yet....
Now that the first round of grades has hit me, it is evident that any infinitesimal slacking will be brutally punished. You will have to live with the social stigma of being "below average".... And suddenly u realise, coincidentally ofcourse, that u aren't in an MBA school for grades! C'mon.. can u even be so naive? But ofcourse what it IS you are here for: thats a BIG secret... Dont let the cat outta the bag now.. someone else might steal ur thunder!
Now that also bring me to my life's ambition at this point in time "make average"... And if by luck, by some supreme chance i happen to hop over that much elusive line, then its time to bring out the champagne! The happiness is so unbearably HUGE that i simply have to start dancing the dance of the guinea pigs in the middle of the windy atrium (i like ta move it move it....physically fit....MOVE IT)...
U paid for this experience... to be among the sharpest, brightest peer group in the world... enjoy the joys and sorrows of it... sure, they average out too :)

A point in time
Windy it was, the atrium spare,
Holed up in a room was I,
On an incessant merry-go-round in air,
Couldnt make a single thought fly.....
Dear Davies...I have to agree....
A poor life this if, full of care,We have no time to stand and stare.

Law of conservation of attention
I had a major revelation today :The law of conservation of attention.
The total amount of attention in a day always remains constant. It may be transfered from one lecture to another. Attention can neither be created nor destroyed.
This became apparent to me after a stroke of brilliance in Stats class followed by sheer dumbness and sleep in Accounting class.....
See, i even have empirical data supporting my law :)
Cheers,
Shruti.

A first time for everything....
Well... its been two weeks of propah classes.... the classes have been well chronicled... so i'm gonna talk about some of the things i've never ever done before in my whole entire life...
Washing clothes, separating colored clothes, making sure they dont all repeatedly collude and decide to migrate towards a particular color...Even more so, drying clothes at 2 a.m.!
Being irritated that the library closes at 2 a.m.!!! What a geek!
Studying furiously for a test that contributed just 5% of the overall score! Man! this is pure torture for innocent kids from Mumbai univ who are completely new to this whole concept of studying for a class test!
Sorting 50 mails in a two hour span... and being a spectator to raging debates by the mature youth of India on the lines of "Are we at a disadvantage bcos we will be writing our exams in the uncomfortable recreation centre?" Have a question for u people raising this really pertinent question- did u give all ur previous exams in ultra-comfortable ergonomically designed AC lecture theatres?
Yes there are some new things i am really enjoying too....But whats the fun in listing them out? I will at a later date.. when i feel more charitably inclined.. And thats not today :)
Cheers!
Shruti.

The finger stamp
Yes... i am part of this collection of people who are headed to ballot in a couple of weeks time... Its the most important and all consuming part of our lives right now...I mean what can be more exciting than voting the Chairperson of the Governing Society of Bartenders?
There are many campaign pitches addressing key issues facing all bartenders in India today, a sample of which i present for ur benefit:
1. Extended lunch hours
2. Equal opportunites for women in bartending
3. Improving the in-house lunch menu
4. Addressing future issues(Thats recursion at its best)
5. Better networking with previous boards of the Governing Society of Bartenders
so job opportunities even in Honolulu can be identified....
But, i think i have cracked the campaign pitch. Its............. "world peace"
(smug face that goes with having cracked the toughest problem which even the smartest kid in class couldnt)
Dont let it out till the elections... cos i think this seat was meant for me since its very inception!
Cheers!
Shruti....
The abode of the insomniacs.....
Its 00:07... And here i am in this floodlit space... having the time of my life!
There's these two guys sitting in front of me... one waving his hand and hoping to change the path of the electrons flying around in the air... The other is trying to keep his semi-broken leg within his control, not to offend the lady sitting in front of him... oh and thats not me, in case u were wondering :)
Yes... so its Sunday nite... and guess where i am? Where i have been for the last 7 hours? Where i will be for the next coupla hours? In the happy confines of a wonderful most happening place on campus called... now how do u spell it? L-I-B-R-A-R-Y...yes i think thats what it is... Now its not that this is the first place of learning I have been to... I have studied before.. atleast thats what my certificates say... But this place that i am spending so much time in... i havent really been acquainted with it before arriving here....I think they had such a thing in college too... or did they? I dunno....
Well well... happy knowledge absorption to me i say! With all these books in this place (OMG.. i just got this thought... am i supposed to pick one of them up?????) ......
Happy librarying....
Cheers!

Fridge clean pulsu
Yo ppls!!
Yepp.. i've gotten over my two blog syndrome.. nope KT, i'm not Gajjini...I dont have a two blog memory span...
So i have got 1.5 vidanya done :) Vidanya 1: Get married (Half way there with this ring on my finger) Vidanya 2: I got into ISB........ So lets say i'm getting there... With some luck the others will also get ticked off .....
So here is a totally irrelevant blog.. nothing to do with any of the two vidanyas.. but then i need to do justice to the title of my blog, dont i?
So here goes... blaag no. 3 of my come back blaags:
Ok... we will now embark upon a voyage into a home....
Thoda aur zoom in... the kitchen.... and in some time.. we will zoom in a little further...
What started it all:
Madame: Did u get the vegetables?
Monsieur : Oh!! no... (Silence out of plain complete fear.....then long strain of excuses... which dont make any impression on the fair lady)
Madame: Now even the shops will be closed! (Ofcourse the husband was on the defensive on another front as well:he was late)
Monsieur : I'm sure there must be something in the house... (Hopeful as hell....Cos else he'd have an angry and hungry wife.. the first he was used to handling. He was ablsolutely mollified, stupefied, horrified, terrified by the second)
After a long hard.... look, the lady sets out on "mission fridge clean"
Open fridge.
Ferret out 2 boiled potatos, 1 carrot, 1 capsicum.
So... with all the ultra pleasant plans of a 69 ways to kill her husband (which included death by marketing) she chops the veggies up and puts 'em into the kadai. then she chooses.. no wait.. she grabs the masalas.... after 12 mins she decides enuf is enuf...out comes the bhaji! if they aren't done yet... they dont know how to meet deadlines!
Dinner is served.... Both of them are all set to eat whatever the outcome of her rage. And she is just waiting for hubby dear to say its a little spicy or something else to the effect of a suicide note... so she would get an opportunity to grind him to small bits and make an interesting dish that she'd really relish eating...
But.... nopes! that is not to be.. the husband lives to see another day.. cos the bhaji is absolutely amazing! in fact, it even wins the bhaji of the week award! He asks her with all sincerity "What did u put into it? Its GREAT!"
And she thinks about it.... other than the veggies which were visible to the naked eye(and miraculously even to the husband)....she just didnt know! it was so damn good but unrepeatable! Unless ofcourse the husband comes home late... and.....
